Toucan Diversity is proud to announce that they have achieved Disability Confident Leader status.  The team worked hard through the validation process and got official confirmation on Thursday 18 October.

Successfully obtaining the Level 3 ‘Leader’ accreditation, demonstrates Toucan Diversity’s commitment to disability equality and their stance on urging a positive approach towards disability, challenging negative attitudes and ensuring that all staff can achieve their full potential.

Madissa Asgari, Founder of Toucan Diversity says: “I am proud of Toucan Diversity’s achievements and of the fact that we are making a contribution towards bringing about social change for disabled people.’

The Disability Confident Employer Scheme is a government initiative, designed to enable employers to think differently about disability.  This scheme encourages businesses to recruit and retain disabled employees, by recognising their skills and talents.  There are three levels to this scheme and an organisation must have successfully completed each stage.

Achieving Level 3 ‘Leader’ accreditation with Toucan Diversity

To complete Level 3 and achieve Disability Confident Leader status, organisations need to complete a self-assessment, which must then be externally validated by  a Disabillity Confident Leader oganisation.

We believe that in order to be come disability smart, a business must implement a ‘whole organisation’ approach to its disability and diversity strategy. This means no area of a business should develop in isolation of its wider strategic support and planning.

Therefore, as part of a validation with Toucan Diversity  you will receive the following:

  • feedback on both your Level 2 self-assessment and your Level 3 leadership statement of activities;
  • receive wider recommendations for your organisation based on the evidence you provide; and
  • a one-hour phone call with one of our Advisers to go through the validation, giving you the opportunity to ask questions on the recommendations we have made and advice on next steps.
